Star tips for weaning
Star tips for weaning
We’ve all written down our best tips to help you get started. Good luck!
- It’s no contest – all babies are individuals with different needs, tastes, and learning speeds, so don’t worry if other babies take to foods quicker.
- Dress up – baby bibs not only catch food as it falls, but are also incredibly cute!
- Mess up – accept that it will be a messy business. Try to be prepared for this (floor covering, cloths close at hand etc).
- Softly, softly – only use special baby spoons that are nice and soft on the gums.
- Smile – eating is something to be enjoyed, so relax and have fun teaching them.
- Invention is the mother – be inventive when you’re encouraging them to eat. Babies get bored very quickly!
- Play at copy cat - eating with the rest of the family as often as possible will help the baby learn by watching and copying.
- Stay close – don’t leave them alone with food, just incase they start to choke or react badly to an ingredient.
- Be prepared - keep plenty of convenient food with you while out and about in case baby gets hungry. As you know, outings are much more relaxing when you’re well prepared.
- Stay relaxed - try not to get stressed – it will be hard and seem slow at times but will get easier little by little.
